Homework English A week 9

“I had to get over this irrational feeling that Jacob belonged in my life. He couldn’t belong with me, could not be my Jacob, when I belonged to someone else.”

“Jacob was right. He’d been right all along. He was more than just my friend. That’s why it was so impossible to tell him goodbye — because I was in love with him. Too. I loved him, much more than I should, and yet, still nowhere near enough. I was in love with him, but it was not enough to change anything; it was only enough to hurt us both more. To hurt him worse than I ever had.”

By reading these quotes you pretty much understand the subplot right away. Bella Clearly has problems balancing her relationship with Edward and with Jacob. Even though Bella and Edward are truly in love she has feelings for Jacob. This you notice all the way through the book but when you read this, and it’s almost like she admits it to herself. Then it gets sort of official. I think that this has been the subplot in all of the books, almost like a red wire holding the books together a little better.

I think the author brought this in to the book making it more exiting. It’s like you really want to know if Bella’s going to stay with Edward or if she decides to be with Jacob. I also think it’s because of what I mentioned earlier. It connects the books better, holding them together.

Homework English A week 8

The environment in the book isn’t described very well. I couldn’t find even one quote that says something about it .I think it’s because it’s the third book and by reading the first two you have already got the picture of how it looks. But from what I know it looks something like this. The book takes place in the town Forks outside Washington. With around one thousand locals it may seem like the typical American small town. But in the rainy overcast environment the “monsters” are hiding. Forks is surrounded by forest and mountains this and the always grey weather make this town the perfect hideout for all the vampires and werewolves.

Bella and her father Charlie’s house lies in the woods near the centre of Forks while Edward and his family lives in a big house in the outskirts of town. Bella’s best friend Jacob Black lives with the others in the Quileute tribe in a reservation near the beach “La push” that’s surrounded by high cliffs.

I hope this makes sense and that it makes you understand at least a little of what I think the environment in the book looks like.
